Diplomats, elected officials, community leaders, business and media representatives of the tri state area, welcomed Ambassador Pelaez, in a warm reception sponsored by the International Immigrants Foundation.
In the words of Edward Juarez, President and Founder of the International Immigrants Foundation “After a decade of successful years of services on behalf of Peru in New York, Ambassador Heli Pelaez announced he will return to his country; and for those who have had the privilege to interact with Ambassador Pelaez and witness his remarkable achievements on behalf of his community, it’s an honor to organize today this farewell reunion and share this moment with all our distinguish guests.
We trace our relationship with Ambassador Pelaez from the beginning of his mandate, and from the start our distinguish honoree became a steady partner in our fight for the principles of love of freedom, and commitment to the ideals of equal opportunity and justice for all. During the years, he embraced with us the crusade in favor of the immigrants, feverishly assisting his countrymen in their pursuit of a better life.”
While presenting a commendation to Ambassador Pelaez, as a memento of our friendship
Juarez said: Although, we have named this gathering a “farewell luncheon”, I am echoing everyone saying : This is not a farewell.
We are not telling you good bye, we are saying ‘hasta siempre.
