     IMMIGRANT HERITAGE WEEK 2009
WHAT: The International Immigrants Foundation proudly announced it  has been selected to partner with the City of New York the celebration of Immigrant Heritage Week 2009 that will start on April 17th to April 23rd, 2009, with a series of events at the Immigrants Building.
The open ribbon ceremony will take place on April 17th at 11am with the participation of the Commissioner of Immigration, the Director of Immigration Services, dignitaries, elected officials, diplomats, representatives of the multi cultural communities and special guests.
This year’s event, “Helping Hands, Immigrants helping immigrants”, will continue with a series of free mini workshops focusing on the most pressing needs the immigrants confronts in their new environment. This variety of topics will be addressed by representatives of governmental and private organizations.
The participants will have the opportunity to honor the “Outstanding Immigrant” they choose and present a certificate honoring them on the closing ceremony on April 23rd, at 5 pm.
Paintings and art exhibits from more than 20 famous immigrants’ artists will be in display during this week of celebrations.
