Dear Sir or Madam,
Thank you for your interest in our drive, it is with the help and
support of concerned individuals like yourself that we can accomplish our goal. The
purpose of our campaign, which was started on September 26, 1997, by the International
Immigrants Foundation, is to raise public awareness about the harshness of the current
Immigration Act of 1996 and the adverse impact of the Acts provisions on the social,
economic, cultural and political structure of the United States society.
The campaign, now progressing rapidly toward its target of 1 million
petitions and 10,000 new naturalized voters per state drive, also aims to
enlighten the general public about the new Acts implications and the need to change
the negative perceptions about our immigrant population.
In order for the International Immigrants Foundation to be
successful in its drive, several things must happen. We must change the public opinion
about undocumented immigrants through educational and informational campaigns,
naturalization campaigns and voter registration. Media events, such as the International
Cultures Celebration, held annually by the International Immigrants Foundation,
also help, through entertainment, in educating the public. We must send a clear message to
all elected officials that todays immigrants are tomorrows voting citizens.
Once again, thank you for your support and please feel free to
duplicate and distribute copies of the petition to all those interested. The International
Immigrants Foundation is here to help so if you have any questions or suggestions do
not hesitate to call us.
Sincerely,
Edward Juarez Pagliocco
President
